Home – About Us
The name “Nrutyeshwar” is derived from two Sanskrit words — “Nrutya” meaning dance, and “Eshwar” meaning God — together symbolizing the God of Dance. In Indian mythology, Lord Shiva, revered as Nataraj, is considered the divine originator of dance. With religion deeply interwoven into the fabric of Indian life, much of its folk art and traditions trace their roots back to spiritual and religious practices.
Founded by Shri. Shashin Mestry in 1989, Nrutyeshwar was born out of a vision to preserve, promote, and celebrate the richness of Indian folk culture. The organization engages in the practice and performance of Folk Dance, Folk Music, and Folk Art, drawing members from schools and colleges across the city. Driven by the belief that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow, Nrutyeshwar serves as a platform to pass on cultural heritage to future generations.
